by Bob and Deanna Persons
Alaska Northwest Books®
176 pg, 56 B&W photos, 150 recipes
Hardbound, 0-88240-619-1, $19.95

Built in 1962, the Double Musky began as an after-ski bar. Customers cooked their own steaks over a fire in the dining room and ate their food on picnic tables. In 1979, after the struggling inn had passed through several owners, Bob and Deanna Persons bought the restaurant. With training and advice from Paul Prudhomme and his staff, the Persons started to make a name for their little restaurant. The Double Musky began featuring a menu of steaks and seafood with an emphasis on spices and seasonings with a New Orleans accent.

The Persons

Favorable reviews from national magazines, newspapers, and travel guides began to appear and most recently the Double Musky was named one of the Top 10 restaurants in America by the Food Network’s Jill Cordes and has been featured on CNN Worldwide. Other praise for the restaurant has appeared in Bon Appétit, Fodor’s Travel Guides, Honolulu Magazine, Chicago Tribune, San Francisco Chronicle, New Orleans Times-Picayune, New York Times, and many other publications around the U.S.

Hello all—

We’re in the thick of the Fall Trade Show season and happy to have many authors scheduled for the Pacific Northwest Booksellers Association show this coming weekend.

With only 82 days left in 2006, we at Graphic Arts Center are pleased to announce the highly anticipated arrival of the second printing of The Double Musky Inn Cookbook, just in time for the holidays. First released in mid-July, this unlikely combination of Alaska and Cajun cuisine has intrigued food writers nationwide. We’re thrilled with the attention this book has received so far.

For other gift ideas, see Brilliant Waters, Alaska: Portrait of a State, Las Vegas: Portrait of a City, and Iditarod Glory, shown below.

We have lots of authors out promoting their books at events this month. And, if you are in the area, we hope you can stop by our booth, 1268, at the PNBA this Thursday through Saturday, and meet several of our authors.
