Happy July!
Everyone here at Graphic Arts Center Publishing Company hopes you enjoyed a wonderful and safe 4th of July celebration.
If you haven’t received it already, the Fall 2006 catalog should be arriving in your mailbox soon. We’re not trying to rush through summer, but hope that when you have a moment you can kick back with a tall cool glass of iced tea and check out what’s coming this fall.
Meanwhile, here’s a bit of a preview: Oklahoma 3, by acclaimed photographer David Fitzgerald of Oklahoma City, presents a fresh look at the state he loves so dearly. Fitzgerald’s stunning photography is also featured in Chickasaw: Unconquered and Unconquerable, a moving photo-essay book told by the Chickasaw nation. Brilliant Waters: Portraits of Lake Tahoe, Yosemite, and High Sierra by new publisher Hawk’s Peak Publishing, contains the striking photography of Elizabeth Carmel and a foreword by Robert Redford.
This season, Alaska Northwest Books® is proud to present The Kids from Nowhere: The Story Behind the Arctic Educational Miracle, by George Guthridge, an inspiring story of triumph over adversity in a remote Alaska Native village. Also watch for the thirtieth edition of The Alaska Almanac® marking a milestone in our publishing about this special part of the U.S. called Alaska.
On the heels of accepting her ASPCA Henry Bergh Children’s Award in the Non-fiction, Humane Heroes category for The Least of These: Wild Baby Bird Rescue Stories at the ALA Conference last month, Joan Harris has received second place for the 2006 National Federation of Press Women Communicator’s Award for a nonfiction book. Congratulations to Joan and her book for its continuing success!
Please read on about press coverage and author events for the month of July. Enjoy small pleasures in the summer months ahead and don’t forget to squeeze in a good read! Thank you for your continued support.
