  • Bradford Washburn: An Extraordinary Life (WestWinds Press®, HB 1-55868-906-0) – Author Bradford Washburn and Lew Freedman’s autobiography reviewed in the September-October issue of American Scientist by Amos Esty. “The underlying message of his book might be summarized best by the observation of another chronic overachiever, Thomas Jefferson, who wrote, “It is wonderful how much may be done if we are always doing.”Bradford Washburn: an Extraordinary Life was also mentioned on PhotoMedia’s summer online issue. A Bradford Washburn exhibit will run from October 2nd–December 31st at the Anchorage Museum of History and Art showcasing 40 photographs taken by Mr. Washburn.

  • Kitaq Goes Ice Fishing (Alaska Northwest Books®, SB 0-88240-569-1) – Author Margaret Nicolai and illustrator David Rubin’s children book was selected to represent the State of Alaska at the National Book Festival held September 24th on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. Each state selected a title for the Festival Literacy Map that was given to all festival-goers. Representatives of the Alaska Center for the Book also displayed the title at their booth in the Pavilion of the States.

  • One Tough Mother: Success in Life, Business and Apple Pies (WestWinds Press®, HB
    1-55868-908-7) – Author Gert Boyle was interviewed by Paul Linnman of 1190 KEX-AM radio on September 22nd. They discussed the third printing of One Tough Mother and Gert’s charity work via the book for CASA and Special Olympics.

  • Recess at 20 Below (Alaska Northwest Books®, HB 0-88240-604-3, SB 0-88240-609-4) – New author, Cindy Lou Aillaud, was featured in the Delta Wind on September 23rd and in the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner on September 29th.   • Storytellers’ Club (Alaska Northwest Books®, HB 0-88240-607-8) – Author of Winter Walk, Loretta Outwater Cox, was featured in the Fall 2005 issue of Alaska Women Speak. Loretta was also interviewed by KNBA-FM in Anchorage, Alaska on September 26th.

Artique Gallery in Anchorage, Alaska will have an exhibit of Evon’s linocut artwork from the new book running from October 22nd-November 2nd.

  • Two in a Red Canoe (Graphic Arts Books, SB 1-55868-862-5) – Husband and wife authors Matt Hage and Megan Baldino’s book was mentioned in the Anchorage Daily News’ "New books of interest to Alaskans” section on September 4th.
