  • NEW!!! Alaska Geographic “Reunited…” In early May, GACPC purchased the complete Alaska Geographic Society (AGS) list and took over distribution and development of the line. AGS was once part of Bob Henning’s publishing empire, which included The Alaska Sportsman (now Alaska magazine) The Milepost, The Alaska Journal, and Alaska Northwest Books® (bought by GACPC in 1992.) AGS published 118 titles, three guide books, and various maps and posters, which are popular with Alaska visitors and residents, as well as teachers and librarians across the country. The purchase reinforces GACPC as the premier distributor of authentic Alaskana.

  • Fresh Air in the Attic: Welcome Makeovers for 7 Classic Quilts. - The public is invited to meet the quilters, view the quilts, and pick up a signed copy of Fresh Air in the Attic at a special book launch party scheduled for June 13, from 1 to 4 p.m., at Fibers & Stitches Quilt Shop, 58903 Columbia River Highway (Hwy. 30), in St. Helens. The outdoor quilt show/booksigning event is co-sponsored by Fibers & Stitches and the Literary Arts Series (St. Helens Book Shop, Friends of the Public Library, the St. Helens Public Library, and the Columbia Learning Center).   • Fresh Air in the Attic - Editor Tricia Brown has just returned from a week long International Quilt Market trade show where she gave talks, did signings and served as a guest in both the Classic Cottons and Checked Distributor booths. She will continue to tour throughout the west for the book as the summer progresses.

  • Thirsty Traveler – Road Recipes – Author and TV series host, Kevin Brauch, is a headlining guest at the Food & Wine Magazine Classic sponsored by Food & Wine magazine in Aspen, Colorado, June 18-20, 2004.   • Berry Magic - GACPC’s new “First Languages” program produced its debut book, in the Native Alaskan Yup’ik dialect. This pioneer program features customized, affordable publishing in Native languages for school districts and corporations.

  • Alaska’s Totem Poles - Author Pat Kramer is cruising Alaska’s Inside Passage all summer as an “Enrichment Lecturer” onboard Royal Carribean’s Radiance of the Sea from June 5-June 12 and Princess’ Sapphire Princess from June 27-September 19. Pat will be doing signings and presentations in corresponding ports.

  • Kumak’s Fish – Author/illustrator Mrs. Michael Bania signed copies of both Kumak’s Fish and Kumak’s House at the Anchorage at Cook Inlet Book Company’s 4th Annual Reading Rendevous, and TitleWave Books. Adults appreciated the authenticity and messages in these books, while kids loved the humorous artwork and stories.

  • Washington’s History – June 17, 2004 Author Harry Ritter will be doing a talk and singing at the Semiahmoo Country Club in Blaine, WA. Chatting and coffee begins at 7:30, breakfast buffet at 8:00 and the guest speaker starts at 8:30 and concludes at 9:00.
